yoshimi and yuka
flower With No color

a release from ipecac recording
April 2003

In spring 2002, yuka traveled home to japan to work with yoshimi. Many people know yoshimi from the famous japanese underground band, "the boredoms". they have now released a new type of project by yoshimi and yuka titled flower with no color.

for one of the songs on the album, as the story goes, they drove up to the mountains with a little truck full of instruments. up to a little temple in the mountains, where these birds were singing. they played their instruments while the birds were singing around them, and
did some field recordings there. they took the tapes back in the studio, and worked on them a little more.

this is an innovative trek into ancient electronics recorded in a semi-live earth temple. some of the tracks were recorded while the pair were driving up the mountain in their little truck full of various musicial contraptions. you can hear the sound of the truck in the background as the musical journey unfolds. using technical effects over live on location recordings, a musical psychedelic soundscape was created. a music that captures the essense of japanese traditions, born in the simple mountain temple. it is both modern and psychedelic in it's presentation, while retaining the zen of a bird singing on a quiet morning.

In an age of commerical soundtracks for corporate marketing, this album is a bold artistic statement. Flower with No Color is musical expression and exploration, without any of the usual artisitic inhabition or fear of judgement.

Yoshimi and Yuka present Flower With No Color, was released in April 2003 by Ipecac Recording. Ipecac is known as a "artist friendly label" that will release music other labels don't dare.
