Jampa Thongol Buddha is the Drepung Monastery located about 8 km from Lhasa. There were once some 10,000 monks living at Drepung. The second Dalai Lama established his residence and reigned from his throne room here.

The grounds feature temples, entombed Dalai Lamas, palaces, and facilitates for the training of the monks.
